WebCT…Distance Learning
What is WebCT?
WebCT is a web-based set of course tools designed to deliver online learning. It was originally developed by the University of British Columbia and is presently being used by universities and colleges all over the world. Some of the WebCT tools used to support online learning include homepages, discussions, glossaries, calendars, quizzes, chat rooms and e-mail.
Is Distance Learning for You?
These questions are meant to give an indication of aptitude for distance learning courses and are in no way a guarantee for success or failure in any course or program. Ask yourself these questions:
- Do I usually complete homework and other assignments on time?
- Can I do homework with little or no help?
- If I am having difficulty with an assignment, do I get help as soon as possible?
- Are textbooks easy for me to follow? Or do I prefer to have the instructor explain them?
- When it comes to studying, am I a self-motivated learner?
- When I turn in work, do I move on to the next assignment while waiting for feedback?
- Are face-to-face meetings with the instructor and classmates important to me?
- When asked to utilize new skills and technologies as a learner, do I embrace the challenge and enjoy trying new things?
- Do I classify myself as a highly independent learner?
