Certified Nursing Assistant
(Basic Nursing)
In the Basic Nursing Courses (VNSG1323 and VNSG 1160) at Lamar State College-Orange, students with caring natures will gain the skills necessary to launch a career as a vital part of a health care team.
Nursing assistants help patients in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities obtain a higher quality of life through their close, daily interaction. Offering comfort as well as personal care of patients, nursing assistants are often relied upon by doctors, nurses and physical therapists for observations and reports. Their skills are highly valued.
These courses are prerequisites for the Vocational Nursing Program at Lamar State College-Orange.
Students who wish to become certified can do so at the completion of these courses through the Department of Health and Human Services Long-Term Care Division.
