Program Description


Medical Laboratory Technicians are proficient in collecting, processing and performing analytical tests on blood and body fluids. Positions for Medical Laboratory Technicians are available in hospital laboratories, private laboratories, physician's office laboratories, health department laboratories and industrial medical laboratories.

The program is offered every even numbered year. Eighteen students are accepted through an application process. Students must have completed the following criteria before clinicals in the last semester of the program:

  • Background check
  • Color blindness exam
  • Hepatitis vaccinations
  • Current immunizations
  • Physical exam

Upon graduation with an AAS in MLT, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
