Criminal Justice Society

Welcome! Most students have a misconception that being a criminal justice major entails only one job opportunity, and that is to become a police officer. This assumption is wrong. One can obtain many jobs through having a criminal justice degree. Here are just a few examples: one can work as a criminal investigator, forensic specialist, adult probation officer, juvenile probation officer, parole officer, prison or jail guard, game warden, victim witness coordinator, state trooper, prosecutor and defense attorney (a law degree is required for these last two positions.) As one can see, there are many opportunities in the criminal justice field. A criminal justice degree or certificate will be a valuable asset in the years to come. For more information please contact Dr. John Edward Coratti, the director of criminal justice at Lamar State College-Orange, (409) 882-3353, or any member of The Criminal Justice Society and its officers.
