- Information Clerk Institutional Award
- Customer Service Representative Certificate
- Information Management Specialist Certificate
These certificates and institutional awards are designed to prepare students with information management skills as well as technology knowledge for today’s business environment. Some of the skills learned and reviewed in these certificate and institutional award plans of study include:
- internal and external communications
- human relations
- information management systems
- software applications (Microsoft Office)
- traditional office skills
- business professionalism and ethics
Employers increasingly require their support staff to have extensive knowledge of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and database management. Because support specialists must be tactful in their dealings with people, employers also look for good customer service and interpersonal skills. Discretion, good judgment, organizational or management ability, initiative and the ability to work independently are especially important for higher-level positions.
