Emergency Medical Services Level I Certificate of Proficiency-Intermediate (C)

Purpose Statement
The Emergency Medical Services Program is designed to prepare students for various levels of pre-hospital healthcare professions in the emergency medical services industry. The curriculum combines classroom teaching with supervised internship field experience. Emphasis is placed on patient assessment and initial treatment for emergency problems of body systems: obstetrical, pediatric and geriatric and behavioral emergencies: bleeding, shock, trauma and burns.

Students will be eligible for EMT-Intermediate certification by TDH if they are certified at the EMT-Basic level and after successful completion of EMSP 1338-Introduction to Advanced Practice, EMSP 1356-Patient Assessment/Airway Management, EMSP 1355-Trauma Management and EMSP 2261-Clinical II-Intermediate (11 credit hours).
