Program Description

Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT)

This degree program is a State-Board approved consisting of lower-division courses intended for transfer to baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. There are two degree plans: AAT1 is for students interested in teaching grades EC-4, 4-8 and special education; the AAT2 is for students interested in teaching Grades 8-12, Art, Music, Physical Education, Theater, Technology Applications, and languages other than English.

Accelerated Certification for Educators Program (ACE Program)

The ACE Program is designed for the person who holds a bachelor’s degree and an interest to become certified as a Texas teacher. LSC-O offers a high-quality teacher certification program that addresses the needs of individuals interested in a non-traditional route to the teaching profession.

Teacher Quality Grant Program for Current Teachers

At the present time, we do not have any active grants.

LSC-O offers professional development opportunities through grants provided by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for EC-12 grade teachers in the area of mathematics. The sessions begin with a 60-hour summer session, usually in June, followed by a school-year program, which meets one full day each month from August through May.
