Lamar State College-Orange Salutes Its Summer Graduates

Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough will serve as the guest speaker at the LSC-O summer 2009 commencement on Friday, August 14, at 7 p.m. at the Lutcher Theater.

Mr. Kimbrough graduated summa cum laude from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  He later earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law Center.  He is licensed to practice law in all Texas state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Kimbrough served as an assistant district attorney for five years and was in private practice for several years before being elected district attorney.  He has served as an adjunct instructor at Lamar State College-Orange for several years teaching criminal justice and government classes. Mr. Kimbrough is an avid wildlife photographer and firearms enthusiast. He and his wife, Kelly, have two sons, Ryan and Grant.

Dr. J. Michael Shahan, LSC-O president, will introduce the special guest and confer the degrees.  Dr. Joe Kirkland, vice president of academic affairs, will perform the certification of candidates.
