Tech-Prep is a partnership formed among secondary schools, area business/industry/labor, community leaders, parents, students, and post secondary institutions. The Primary goal is to ensure that students leave high school with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to participate in a high skills, high wage economy and to participate fully as productive members of their community.

To obtain Tech Prep credit at LSC-O a student must:
- Provide an official transcript that is correctly coded for Tech Prep courses taken in high school.
- Have completed at least one (1) full credit for each course in question and have passed (60%) the "College Credit Exam" for articulated academic courses.
- Fill out a petition for Tech Prep credit with any advisor in the LSC-O Advising and Counseling Center located in Room 354 of the Ron E. Lewis Library building.
- After high school graduation, enroll in an approved program for Tech Prep at LSC-O and take and pass at least one (1) 3-hour course listed on the approved certificate or degree plan. Once grades are received at the end of the semester the Tech Prep credit will be posted to the semester for which the student applied.
- Students have two years from the date of high school graduation to apply for the credit.
