ACPE Accredited IV Training

Lamar State College - Orange Pharmacy Technician Program offers PHRA 1345.60 Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique certification course by The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). This nationally recognized continuing pharmacy education (CPE) certification course is designed to train Certified Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists.


To train Certified Pharmacy Technicians and Registered Pharmacists on the topic of sterile product preparation that meets the USP Chapter & Texas State Board of Pharmacy practice standards. Texas Administrative Code RULE §291.133 Pharmacies Compounding Sterile Preparations, requires all Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to complete an IV training course by an ACPE provider by September 1, 2015.

Course Outline

  • Students will be trained in a 40 hours ACPE approved course that presents concepts of sterile compounding. 
  • The course consists of classroom lectures, weekly reading assignments, hands on training, and video presentations. 
  • Twenty (20) hours will be at home study and a minimum of 20 hours will be spent in didactic training/ skills testing. 
  • Students must demonstrate knowledge and skills of at least 75% on the final examination and 100% on the I.V. process validation.

After Successful Completion

Nationally recognized Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique Certificate and a statement of credit for 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) of ACPE accredited continuing education.

Students do not have to come to campus to apply for admission.

  2. Have a copy of official transcript sent, driver’s license and social security card via (one of the options below)
  3. Email program director
    Thera.Celestine@lsco.edu to notify that registration process has begun.
  4. Once you have received registration notification, pay required registration

After the program director has received acknowledgement, information explaining how to log-on to the distance education learning platform will be emailed to you.

Location and Live (Hands-On) Instruction Time:

Live (Hands-On) Component Training will be held at Lamar State College-Orange in the Allied Health Building Room 103B. Each class time will be held on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Students must attend both days.
