Welcome to College for Kids - Orange
Lamar State College-Orange (LSC-O) believes in the Golden Triangle in Orange County. This is our home and where our future lies. We want to contribute towards making that future better.
By the end of this decade, our vision for success sees 75% of CFKO graduates being accepted at schools of higher learning after leaving high school and that CFKO graduates will represent 10% of each freshman class at LSC-O.
What is College for Kids - Orange?
College for Kids–Orange (CFKO) is a summer program of LSC-O designed to provide children in grades 4 through 8 with enjoyable educational opportunities different from normal school experiences. Children have opportunities to explore new academic areas, upgrade basic skill concepts, meet new friends and participate in a structured, informative, non-pressured, educational environment. What the children learn helps them to understand, appreciate and love this community in which we live.
If we are successful, our children will be better educated because they want to be and will develop a stronger bond to the community allowing more of them to stay, grow up here, and prosper, If CFKO can help build better students in the early years, our high school students will be better and their statistics will reflect that. Our success contributes to the well-being and stability of the entire community.
No student should be turned away from CFKO because of the financial inability to pay the tuition.
Funds received from grants and donations from community businesses are made available to students who would not otherwise be able to attend but do fit the goals of the program. To apply for tuition assistance, students must submit an application by May 15th. All information on applications will be verified with school districts. Eligibility may be denied due to poor attendance in a prior sponsored year.
