The Teachers of Tomorrow (TOT) organization at Lamar State College – Orange have selected officers for the spring semester.  The group includes Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) education majors who are currently taking or have taken Introduction to Teaching or Introduction to Special Populations classes.  The sponsor of the group is long time educator Dorraine Babcock.

The Teachers of Tomorrow president is Johana Ramirez.  She is a high school graduate of Impact Academy of Arts and Technology in 2012 and is currently an education major at Lamar State College – Orange.  Ramirez plans to finish her degree at the University of Houston to be a bilingual fourth grade instructor.  She is a Sunday school volunteer and the daughter of Rey Ramirez and Maria Ramirez.  She has two brothers, David and Esteban Ramirez.

The TOT vice president is Erin Welborn , an AAT1 student.  She graduated from Vidor High School in 2014, was a member of the Student Council, served as president of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America and was a member of the Texas Association of Future Educators.  Welborn received a bronze medal from the FCCIA association, was a winner of the TAFE storybook contest and was on the A-Honor roll while in high school.  She plans to finish her degree at Lamar University and teach fifth grade history.  She is the daughter of Fawn and Michael Welborn. 

Melissa Cox has been elected secretary of the TOT group.  Cox graduated from Orangefield High School in 2004 where she was a member of the band and Future Teachers of America (FTA).  She is an AAT1 major and plans on receiving her bachelor’s degree at Lamar University and wants to teacher fifth grade science and math.  Cox volunteers as the workroom coordinator at Orangefield Elementary where her children Jared and Trenton attend.  She is the daughter of Thomas and Victoria Harris.

The treasurer of TOT is Shai Greer.  She graduated from Johnson Bayou High School in 2007.  While in high school she was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, 4-H Club and the Fellowship of Christian Students and Athletes. Greer is an AAT2 major and plans on finishing her college career at Lamar University obtaining a teaching certificate in high school science.  Greer is a member of the Lamar State College – Orange Student Government Senate.  She is the daughter of Gayla Roberts and Chris Greer and has one daughter, Stevie Greer.

Jessica Brown has been elected the communication chairman of the TOT organization and is a 2013 graduate of West Orange-Stark High School.  She is also an education major at LSC-O and plans to finish her bachelor’s degree at Lamar University as a generalist early childhood to sixth grade teacher and eventually teach second grade.  While in high school she served as secretary on the Student Council and was a member of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE).  Brown is the daughter of Monike and Clifford Brown and has three siblings, Tiffani, Jasmine and Clifford Brown.
