Lamar State College – Orange makes the following statement in regards to information gathering and dissemination practices for the main college web site and all pages that begin with the address http://www.lsco.edu.
A "cookie" is a small file containing information that is placed on a user’s computer by a web server. Typically, these files are used to enhance the user’s experience of the site, to help users move between pages in a database, or to customize information for a user.
Lamar State College – Orange does not use “cookies” to collect information about visitors.
II. Logs and Network Monitoring
The out-sourced distance learning site Desire2Learn (D2L) logs students and instructors who log in to D2L. Once logged in with a D2L user ID, various class activities are tracked throughout D2L class activities. All actions taken by that D2L user ID in a D2L class are logged and accessible by the D2L course instructor and the D2L instructional designer/administrator (at the request of the D2L course instructor or in the course of diagnosing a technical problem). D2L archives are accessible by the D2L instructional designer/administrator, and governing body of the college or in the course of diagnosing a technical difficulty. At the request of LSC-O technical support personnel from vendor may also access stored course information for the resolution of a technical issue.
We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our web site.
III. Email and Form Information
If a member of the general public sends Lamar State College - Orange an e-mail message or fills out a web-based form with a question or comment that contains personally identifying information, that information will only be used to respond to the request and analyze trends. The message may be redirected to another person or office that is better able to answer your question. Such information is not used in any way that would reveal personally identifying information to outside parties unless legally required to do so in connection with law enforcement investigations or other legal proceedings.
