GPS: Navigate to Success - LSCO's Quality Enhancement Plan
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is an integral component of the reaffirmation of accreditation process and is derived from an institution’s ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes. It reflects and affirms a commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue that the institution considers important to improving student learning outcomes and/or student success. The document submitted by the institution demonstrates that its QEP (a) has a topic identified through its ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes; (b) has broad-based support of institutional constituencies; (c) focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success; (d) commits resources to initiate, implement and complete the QEP; and (e) includes a plan to assess achievement.

Spring 2024 Update
The QEP program has been named GPS: Navigate to Success. The GPS program will focus on lowering the drop, fail, and withdraw rates of our first-year students, as well as increasing the persistence rate of those students from semester to semester. The GPS program will approach this goal in two ways, mentoring and tutoring.
Mentoring Program
Students will be partnered with a mentor prior to or early in the semester. The mentors will not only help guide them through what it takes to be a college student, but will also be able to offer advice based on their years of experience in higher education and the workforce. Mentor/Student matches will be completed using software with detailed questionnaires so that students are partnered with a mentor that fits their needs.
Tutoring Program
Tutoring works best when it is done consistently. The GPS Tutoring is partnering with select first year courses to connect students with tutoring services early in the semester when it has a chance to make a difference.
The QEP team initiated a small scale pilot of each program in Fall 2023, and are carefully examining the processes and data collected in order to improve both programs.
