LSCO Career Fair Connects Students with Regional Employers
March 12, 2026
ORANGE, TX - Lamar State College Orange (LSCO) continues to strengthen its commitment to student success by connecting students directly with employers through its semester Career Fair.
Held inside the college’s Shahan Events Center, the event brought together dozens of employers from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana to meet with LSCO students and community members. The fair offered opportunities to explore internships, careers and workforce pathways while also raising awareness about resources available to job seekers.
Employers representing a range of industries including health care, finance, emergency services, public health and nonprofit organizations spent the day speaking with students about career opportunities and what it takes to succeed in their fields.
For many employers, the career fair provides an opportunity to meet potential employees while helping students better understand expectations before entering the workforce.
Lisa Smith, a representative with Neches Federal Credit Union, encouraged students to find purpose in their careers saying, “find your passion behind your position. Finding a purpose in a career gives meaning to what you do every day and helps bring something bigger to your role.”
Lita Rowles, with Silsbee Oaks Health Care, shared the qualities she looks for when hiring new team members saying, “when I look for someone to become a member of our team, I look for someone who is personable. Not only do they need to be team players, but they also need to know how to interact with our residents and their families.”
Casey Sullivan-Flood, recruiter with Acadian Ambulance, encouraged students to explore opportunities and gain experience in fields that interest them saying, “jump in if you see something that you want to do… You may find something that is really the best thing that you could have done and really makes work fun for you.”
Events like the LSCO Career Fair help bridge the gap between education and employment by giving students the opportunity to interact with employers, ask questions and learn about career pathways available in the region.
By hosting the event each semester, LSCO continues to build partnerships with industry leaders while ensuring students have access to the resources, connections and experiences they need to succeed after graduation.
