Campus Police Update
January 8, 2026 | Email
Good morning, Gators,
As previously mentioned in an email with campus updates that I sent in November, the Lamar Police Department (LPD) has begun patrolling the LSCO campus and is ready to respond to calls for assistance. This initiative brings with it a safer and stronger campus experience for our students, faculty and staff.
LPD employs licensed Texas peace officers, telecommunications officers, campus security officers, and support staff to provide the highest level of security for each of the four Lamar campuses. Sergeant Yatara Martin and Corporal Michael Harpham have been assigned to LSCO to conduct thorough security assessments and review protocols to continually enhance campus security. LSCO and LPD will continue to work with local law enforcement partners to keep the surrounding areas safe.
Please feel free to stop and speak with LPD's uniformed staff when you see them on patrol. They are typically in black uniforms with the LPD seal on their arms. LPD is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the year to assist or take your calls. You can contact them at 409-880-7777. As always, in case of emergency, please dial 911.
Thank you,
Wendy
