Dear LSCO Faculty and Staff,

With the close of this academic year swiftly approaching, I want to pause and say thank you for your commitment, your perseverance, and your unwavering focus on our students as we cross this finish line together.

This year has been demanding, but it has also been deeply rewarding. Because of your collective efforts, we are closing with strong momentum and meaningful progress:

  • LSCO will have more graduates and completers this spring than ever before, reflecting your dedication to instruction, advising, and student support from start to finish.
  • LSCO welcomed more students during the spring 2026 semester than in the fall 2025 semester. This is VERY rare and is a testament to the students’ experiences as well as the efforts we are investing in recruitment, onboarding, teaching, and engagement.
  • LSCO faculty submitted a larger number of early alert Gator Passes than ever before, demonstrating how intentionally and proactively faculty are identifying and responding to students’ performance gaps in time to try to retain them.

This progress is even more meaningful given the operational realities we navigated together this year. The SaaS implementation has created significant procedural and reporting challenges. Yet, your continued commitment to operational continuity, adaptability, and service to students throughout that transition remains steadfast. Your professionalism and persistence continue to ensure that, even amid change, our mission remained front and center.

In recognition of two important celebrations this week, Teacher Appreciation and Nursing Appreciation week, I am immensely grateful for the critical role our faculty and nursing professionals play in the lives of our students. Whether in the classroom, lab, or clinical setting, your dedication shapes knowledge, builds confidence, and prepares students for meaningful careers. Your work is not only instructional, but also transformational. The time, care, and expertise you invest in every student at LSCO makes our college exceptional.

Lastly, I want to celebrate an extraordinary milestone within our LSCO family. During our annual employee awards luncheon, TEN dedicated employees received service pins recognizing 20 or more years of service to Lamar State College Orange. Their longevity, commitment, and institutional knowledge reflect the very foundation of this institution. I am deeply grateful for their years of dedication and the lasting impact they have made on our students, our colleagues, and our college. THANK YOU!

As we head into the final weeks of the semester, I know there is still final instruction, final grading, several commencements, and planning for the summer and beyond. It can feel like a sprint at the end of a long marathon. But please know that your work is seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. Let’s finish this semester strong, together, and full‑speed ahead, proud of how far we’ve come and energized for what’s next. While celebrating commencement with our graduates, may we take pride in every student crossing that stage as each one represents your dedication, care, and belief in student success.

Blessings always,
Wendy
