Dear Gator Faculty and Staff,
What a way to welcome September and the beginning of another exciting semester at Lamar State College Orange!!! First and foremost, I hope everyone fared well during Tropical Storm Edouard. If you or your family are facing challenges as a result of the storm, please reach out to your supervisor or the Human Resources office and let us know how we can support you. We care deeply about the well-being of our faculty, staff and students. I also want to extend a special thank you to those who worked through the storm to help protect our campus and ensure operations continued without interruption.
As we recover from this week’s storms and move forward with the beginning of Fall 2026, I want to share a simple but heartfelt message: THANK YOU.
Because of your dedication, commitment, and unwavering belief in our students, lives are being transformed every day. The success we celebrate across our institution belongs to each of you. It can be found in every class taught, every student advised, every question answered, every challenge overcome, every partnership cultivated, and every act of encouragement that helps a student stay on the path toward achieving their dreams.
Across Texas, students are succeeding because of your efforts. They are earning college credits while still in high school. They are completing certificates and degrees that lead to meaningful careers. They are transferring to universities, supporting their families, and creating brighter futures for themselves and those who will follow them. Many are the first in their families to attend college, and their accomplishments will have a ripple effect for generations to come.
The past academic year was truly remarkable. Together we celebrated record enrollment, historic graduation milestones, expanding workforce initiatives, and growing statewide partnerships that have increased LSCO's reach and impact far beyond Southeast Texas. We witnessed students achieve goals they once thought were impossible, and we continued to strengthen our reputation as an institution committed to access, excellence, and student success. These accomplishments are a direct reflection of your passion, expertise, and commitment to serving students. Institutional reports from 2025-2026 highlighted historic enrollment growth, record graduation rates, expanded dual credit participation, and increasing partnerships that are helping transform lives across Texas.
As proud as we are of what we accomplished last year, what excites me most is the opportunity that lies ahead.
A new semester brings new students, new opportunities and new stories waiting to be written. Somewhere on our campus, at one of our extended sites, or in one of our many partner communities is a student who will discover confidence, overcome obstacles, earn a credential, complete a degree, or begin a rewarding career because someone at LSCO took the time to care, encourage, and believe in them. And, that someone may be YOU.
No matter your role at LSCO, each of us contributes to creating an environment where students feel supported, challenged, inspired, and empowered to succeed. The work you do matters. It matters to our students, to their families, to our communities, and to the future workforce of Texas.
The momentum at LSCO is real. The opportunities before us are extraordinary. And the future of our institution has never been brighter.
Thank you for everything you have done and all that you will do in the months ahead. It is an honor to serve alongside such a talented, dedicated, and caring group of professionals.
Let's make 2026-2027 our best academic ,yet.
Welcome back, welcome to September, and welcome to another year of transforming lives through education.
Your Future, Our Focus.
Wendy Elmore, Ed.D.
