November Presidential Update

November 3, 2025 | Email

As we enter November, I want to take a moment to celebrate our incredible progress and share where we’re headed next. This fall, we welcomed more than 5,500 students, the largest enrollment in LSCO’s history! That milestone represents far more than a number. It reflects lives changed, families inspired, and futures built right here at Lamar State College Orange. Whether you teach, advise, support, or serve in any capacity,  your dedication makes our mission real every single day: Your Future is Our Focus.

With the fall semester quickly nearing the 75% mark this month and fall graduation just around the corner, I want to thank you for the energy and commitment you continue to shine very brightly. Your hard work is helping hundreds of students reach the finish line, and the impact of your efforts can be seen in every success story across our campus. I’d like to also welcome the dozens of new faculty and staff members we’ve had join our team in the past few months. Our continued growth means we get to expand our impact, bring fresh perspectives into our classrooms and offices, and strengthen the collaborative spirit that makes LSCO such a vibrant place to learn and work.

As we move forward, our priorities will befocused on deepening our impact, sustaining our momentum, and positioning LSCO for continued growth and excellence.

Student Success & Completion
We will continue to deepen our focus on “finishers” — those students who start with us and complete with us. Growth is important not simply for numbers, but for lives changed and communities strengthened.

Program Expansion & Workforce Alignment
Our region demands skilled professionals aligned with the economy of Southeast Texas. These demands may vary throughout the state, and we are mindful of these emerging trends. We will continue to expand and adapt academic and workforce programs so that an LSCO certificate or degree leads to meaningful opportunity in the region as well as throughout the state.

Affordability & Access
As your President, I remain committed that no student be turned away because of cost. We will keep innovating in financial aid, scholarships, flexible scheduling, and student-service models so that access remains a reality, not just an aspiration.

Supporting You — Our Faculty and Staff
The foundation of all we do is YOU. Your dedication, creativity, heart, and expertise carry this institution forward. We will continue investing in professional development and support, ensuring classrooms and labs are equipped for excellence, and fostering a collaborative community across all departments.

Infrastructure & Technology
With our surge in enrollment and the evolving demands of higher education, we must ensure that our facilities, technology, and campus services remain responsive and forward-looking. Growth brings challenges, larger classes, more service demand, but I am confident in our ability to meet them together.

Thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and your belief in what we do. The work happening across our campus is transforming lives and strengthening Southeast Texas and beyond.

Let’s keep moving Full Speed Ahead — 5,500 students, one focus: Your Future is Our Focus.

With gratitude and pride, always!

Wendy
