LSCO Pharmacy Technician Program Earns Accreditation Extension Through 2028
July 8, 2025
The Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission (PTAC) has voted to extend the accreditation of the Pharmacy Technology Program at Lamar State College Orange through 2028. This achievement is a show of a high standard of excellence in the program.
The PTAC is a group that serves both the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to recommend the standards for accreditation of pharmacy technician training programs and administer the accreditation of the training programs. The ASHP is the largest nationwide association of pharmacy professionals that represents over 60,000 pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. The ACPE sets standards for education in pharmacy, and is the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy.
The ASHP has had over 250 pharmacy technician programs in the accreditation process. Receiving this honor is crucial for ensuring the quality of education for pharmacy technology programs across the country. To receive and extend accreditation, the ASHP and ACPE review program documents and do site surveys, and PTAC conducts a review and evaluation. The organizations are looking for programs that will provide students with exceptional curriculum, professional development opportunities, and upgrade the quality of education pharmacy technology students receive.
“As Program Director, I’m incredibly proud of this accomplishment,” Pharmacy Technology Program Director Jennifer Fabriguze said. “It reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students in maintaining the highest standards in pharmacy technician education. This extension is both a validation of our commitment to excellence and an exciting milestone as we continue preparing skilled, workforce-ready pharmacy technicians.”
Being awarded this accreditation extension is an indicator to students and employers that the LSCO Pharmacy Technology program provides a remarkable education and equips graduates with the skills necessary to succeed as pharmacy technicians.
