No. LSCO at TXST students are Lamar State College Orange students. You apply to LSCO, take LSCO courses and receive your degree or certificate from LSCO. Students interested in the Gateway Program are required to apply with TXST for admission.
Courses are offered on the Texas State University campus in San Marcos. Some courses may also be offered online. Check with our Advising Team to help you decide on the best course options for you.
Students attending full time can typically complete an Associate of Applied Science degree in approximately two years. Certificates are built into the program and can be earned along the way.
Most courses are offered in eight-week terms. A full-time student will typically complete approximately 12 to 15 credit hours during a fall or spring semester. Summer courses are also available for students who want to get ahead.
Students pay Lamar State College Orange tuition and fees. This allows students in San Marcos to complete an affordable career-focused degree at LSCO’s tuition rate.
Eligible students may use financial aid for LSCO at TXST. Financial aid, billing and other student processes are handled through Lamar State College Orange.
LSCO at TXST students should list Lamar State College Orange on their FAFSA because they are enrolled as LSCO students.
Yes. LSCO has transfer agreements with Texas State for these programs that allow students to continue into aligned bachelor’s degree pathways without losing credits earned toward their LSCO degree. Speak with our Advising Team to learn more about these pathways.
Admission to Texas State is not automatic or guaranteed. Students must meet applicable TXST transfer admission requirements.
Students have access to select Texas State amenities, including computer labs, common spaces and campus transportation services. Students may also choose to purchase parking and sports passes.
Yes. LSCO at TXST students have access to Texas State campus transportation services.
Yes. Students who plan to park on campus may purchase a Texas State parking permit separately.
On-campus housing is not currently available to LSCO at TXST students, but will be in future semesters.
LSCO Orientaiton is not required, but highly encouraged. Students do not need to register for or attend Texas State New Student Orientation.
Students who are subject to Texas bacterial meningitis requirements must provide the appropriate documentation as part of the LSCO admissions process. LSCO will provide information about any admissions requirements that apply to you.
