Lifesavers! are 1-hour student success workshops offered by the Library, Gator Success
Center, and Office of Learning Technology each semester.
We are excited to offer Lifesavers! in multiple formats:
Our face-to-face sessions are typically held in the library in lab 131 or in the Gator Success Center unless otherwise specified on the Lifesavers! Calendar. Students are encouraged to register for these sessions via the Lifesavers! Calendar in order to receive email reminders about the session and a follow-up email after the session with instructions on how to retrieve a certificate of attendance. Certificates of attendance will be available for those who need them within this Lifesavers! course within 24 hours of the session.
Our virtual sessions will take place online using a Blackboard Collaborate room. Students are encouraged to register for these sessions via the Lifesavers! Calendar in order to receive email reminders about the session and to gain access to the link to the Blackboard Collaborate room. Certificates of attendance will be available for those who need them within this Lifesavers! course within 24 hours of the session.
Our self-paced sessions can be done at any time! Certificates of completion will be awarded to those who pass the quiz for each topic.
Lifesavers! sessions are regularly offered on the following topics:

- Guide to Taking Notes
- Guide to Writing Essays in College
- How to Be a Successful Student
- How to Create a Study Plan
- Microsoft 365 for the Web
- Priority Management
- Reducing Test Anxiety
- Research 101
- Types of Information Sources
Students will need to enroll in the Lifesavers! Blackboard Organization in order to complete self-paced sessions, or to access their certificates of completion.
- Login to Blackboard. You must be logged in to Blackboard before clicking on the link in step 2.
- Click on this link here: Lifesavers! Course. After clicking on the link, the page will open in a new tab.
- Click on “+ Enroll” located on the left.
- Click on Submit button.
- Click the OK button located at the bottom right.
- You are now enrolled in this organization page.
- Lifesavers! should now appear in your list of Organizations in Blackboard.
Students will only need to enroll once per semester.
The Lifesavers! Team is thankful for your support and promotion of Lifesavers! to your students!
All faculty are welcome to assign Lifesavers! attendance as extra credit for their courses. Students who attend Lifesavers!, no matter what modality, receive a certificate in Blackboard that they can then print/email to you. If you ever have questions about whether a student attended a Lifesavers! session, please reach out to email@example.com to check the Lifesavers! gradebook.
All Lifesavers! sessions presented by staff of the Library, Gator Success Center, or Office of Learning Technology are available to visit your class. Please consult the list of current Lifesavers! topics to see what presentations are available. If you have an idea for a topic that is not currently available, please consult with Samantha Smith a minimum of four weeks in advance of your desired class time in order to determine if the topic can be adequately developed in time.
At this time, all guest-presented sessions are not available for class visits.
