Criminal Justice Society Awarded for Community Service

Lamar State College – Orange’s Criminal Justice Society was awarded the Student Organization Community Service Award for 2017.

Members of the Criminal Justice Society completed 465 hours of community service during the Fall and Spring semesters by serving at local events, including Cops and Kids, Blue Santa, Special Angels Rodeo, and Toys for Tots.

Shana Sellers-Runnels, Program Director for Criminal Justice, serves as sponsor of the campus organization.

The Criminal Justice Society earned the top spot for the third year in a row and the group was honored with a plaque for their work. Members also enjoyed a pizza party.

Other notable community service achievements go to the Student Government Association, who served 274 hours, and Teachers of Tomorrow, who served 102 hours.
