The Lifeguards! mentorship program matches LSCO students with volunteer faculty and staff mentors to help you succeed academically, professionally, and personally. Program benefits include:

  • Develops a student’s path to success and increase their knowledge about the resources at LSCO and in the professional environment.

How It Works

  1. Sign Up - Create an account through American Mentors platform for the Lifeguards! Program, Lamar State College Orange.
  2. Get Matched - We'll connect you with a compatible mentor/mentee based on your interests and goals.
  3. Meet Up - Have at least four one-on-one meetings per semester, in-person or virtual.
  4. Grow Together - Participate in training, workshops, and guest speaker events throughout the semester

The program requires a minimum of four one-on-one meetings per semester. These can be in-person, virtual, or a mix of both, depending on what works best for you and your mentor/mentee.

Yes, we understand that not all matches work out perfectly. If you feel your mentor/mentee relationship isn't working, please contact OASIS to discuss options.

No, the Lifeguards! mentoring program is completely free for all LSCO students, faculty, and staff.

We accept applications at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. Matches are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend applying early.
