New Programs Added Under Dr. Johnson's Leadership

From Our Faculty and Staff

What do you think everyone should know about Dr. Johnson?

"Dr. Thomas Johnson is the most genuine, passionate, and student-centered leader that I have ever known. His vision and energy are always focused on removing barriers and obstacles so that students can be successful in their pursuit for a better life." - Dr. Wendy Elmore

"That he really cares about all the students and faculty/staff and he is a very down to earth president!" - Robert Dominguez

"He genuinely cares for our students and wants to ensure them the ability to reach for their dreams. His heart has always been in the right place for the benefit of the student. Dr. Johnson doesn't have a problem with being told "No," especially with educational funding. He always puts his feet back on the ground to search for another way with a "Yes". His branding of LSCO with our slogans, gator mascot, and campus improvements will be remembered for years to come. Through hurricanes, pandemics, and severe weather, he has never failed to take care of us at LSCO." - Kevin Doss

"He honestly cares about LSCO, the faculty, staff, and students. He has proven to be a good stewart and has brought so much growth to our college." - Tammy Davis

What would you like to say to Dr. Johnson?

"Thank you for being an inspirational leader and building a strong foundation we can build upon. You have truly shown us all how bright our future is here at Lamar State College Orange." - Summer Rather

"I hope that you have a very happy and blessed day today and always." - Tammy Davis

"I want to express my deepest appreciation for your leadership and dedication to our institution. Your vision, commitment, and unwavering support have not only shaped the success of our students but have also fostered a culture of growth and collaboration among faculty and staff.||It has been an honor to be part of an institution under your guidance, and your impact will continue to be felt for years to come. Wishing you all the best in your well-earned retirement-may it be filled with joy, relaxation, and new adventures!" - Alicia Lloyd

"Thank you for your unwavering dedication to creating a place where hope DOES meet opportunity for people who never believed that they could go to college. You have taught me more than you can even imagine. You have given me so many experiences to learn from and I will forever be grateful to you for your support. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." - Dr. Wendy Elmore

Tell us a time where you thought, "That's my president."

"This might seem like no that big of a deal, but one time I was delivering some notebooks across campus. They were not heavy by any means and I was just making my way across campus, when out of no where Dr. Johnson pulled up on the side of me. He simply just offered me a ride to my destination (normally I would refuse) but him being the president I accepted. I just had to go right across the street, but him offering to help me just made my day. He probably had way more important stuff to do, and really had no obligation to help me. It is very easy to get recognized or rewarded for doing big things, but it is the little things that count!" - Robert Dominguez

"Any time Dr. Johnson talks about being a first-gen graduate and his passion for helping every student cross the finish line, I think, ""That's my president."" He doesn't just talk about student success-he lives it. His story, his leadership, and his commitment to our students make us all proud to be part of this journey." - Alicia Lloyd

"When I learned of the extension campus in Livingston, I immediately thought "That's my president." I think the behavior of Dr. Johnson that resonated with me the most is when he took the president of the Texas State University System through a close up tour of the old Academic Center. I remember sitting in my office thinking, "He is really going to get us a new building!" and he DID!" - Kevin Doss

"There are too many to mention. Dr. Johnson's leadership and successes make me proud every day. He has mentored me for the past five years. He has been patient and with me and gracious to me during the stressful times. He has celebrated small victories that we have experienced together, never accepting credit for his immense contribution and impact." - Dr. Wendy Elmore
